Technical Support Software Developer

Columbia | Maryland | United States

Your Role:

The Technical Support Software Developer creates and maintains various tools, programs and scripts that will be used by the Technical Support Department. As a Software Developer, you will be responsible for the design, development, coding, testing, debugging and implementation of software utilities used by the technical support department to facilitate the collection and analysis debugging and other information used to lessen the time to resolution of support cases.

Your Opportunity:

  • Collaborate with the different groups within the Technical Support team to design, develop and maintain custom tools that will be used by the team (Log parsers, Diagnostic tools, scripts for the test lab, etc)
  • Continually analyze support processes, data collection and other tasks and recommend automations, scripting or utilities to improve efficiency.
  • Act as a customer advocate by identifying opportunities  within the Tenable suite of solutions where debugging, logging analysis and similar tasks can be improved to the benefit of customers and Technical Support. Act as a liaison between Support and Engineering teams in regards to this task.
  • Use Tenable’s product suite at a basic level to test and create test files,scans, and logs

What you'll need:

  • 3+ yrs active experience with programming languages, including Python, PHP, C
  • 2+ yrs experience with databases and SQL
  • Experiencing using and integrating with APIs
  • Familiarity with Tenable’s product suite
  • Application development experience on Unix/Linux
  • Experience with debugging and analysis tools (Wireshark, Splunk, etc.) a plus
  • Hands-on experience analyzing network traffic and protocols
  • Must have a strong initiative and the ability to work both in a self-directed manner and as part of a team.
