Your Role:

Tenable is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Nessus Network Monitor (NNM) Engineering team to shape and execute on a new world-class IoT visibility solution. This is an opportunity for high impact and to drive the delivery of this new solution. The Nessus Network Monitor is the only vulnerability scanning product that delivers continuous real-time network monitoring in a non-intrusive manner. The ideal candidate has solid technical expertise in machine learning, data modeling and classification techniques, experienced in mining large network data sets, and passionate about delivering results.  As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work within the NNM Engineering team to research new and extend existing detection techniques for IoT devices and then design and implement the solution in the NNM product.

Your Opportunity:

  • Analyze unique network characteristics to identify IoT devices.
  • Investigate and learn new trends in solutions for IoT visibility, assess and recommend approaches to the NNM Management team.
  • Design, develop and test the solution along with other engineers.
  • Work within a high performance scrum team and ensure a high quality of deliverables.

What you'll need:

  • 5+ years of experience in a software engineering role.
  • Strong expertise in C/C++ and knowledge of scripting languages.
  • Working knowledge of network protocols and understanding of networking concepts.
  • Experience in data mining large network data sets in a highly automated manner.
  • Experience in machine learning algorithms highly desirable and experience with data modeling and classification.
  • Ability to use a well-structured, systematic approach to break down and execute on initiatives and achieve results.
  • Excellent at articulating, documenting and presenting ideas and work across the Engineering organization.
  • Ability to influence with or without authority.
  • B.S or M.S. Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
