We give the power to every member of the team when we invite all developers, engineers and researchers to our own internal developer off site hackathon, where they compete to create the next great thing – a functional prototype, related to our technology, that makes our operations better.

Your ideas may become a reality – and even change the future of security.

We have big plans for continued global growth, and we’re looking for people who are creative, flexible and dedicated to helping us build something great – something that matters.

Senior DevSecOps Product Security Engineer

E Santa Clara St. | San Jose | California | United States | 95113

Your Role:

Tenable’s Cloud Platform team is looking for a Senior DevSecOps Product Security Engineer to help lead, design, build, and operate infrastructure and tools to continuously improve the security posture of our next generation Cloud offerings.

Your Opportunity:

You will be responsible for security-related tasks, including the implementation and day-to-day administration of Information Security solutions, and optimizing configurations for effectiveness and to reduce false positives. Your primary responsibilities include performing assessments of security architecture, making practical recommendations to reduce risks, and then help realize the change, as well as the prevention and remediation of security vulnerabilities within cloud platforms using existing or new solutions.

What You'll Need:
  • Automate all the things! When you see a repetitive process, you say to yourself, “I bet I could automate that.”
  • Operational excellence. You get excited about data and you make decisions based on numbers rather than assumptions. Your goal is to find issues and fix them before our customers notice.
  • Security first. You know what it takes to build and operate secure software. You understand defense in depth, risk exposure, and the mechanics behind common exploits. You take a big picture view of security and understand how to maximize your impact to overall security posture.
  • Experience in DevOps environments and maintaining security in CI/CD processes
  • Desire to learn and adapt. You may have a favorite language or tool, but you know that each situation should dictate the tech you use to implement a solution. You'll constantly be learning new areas and new technologies - this should excite you!
  • Passion. Our customers come to us for top of the line security products and our engineers are ready to deliver on that challenge.. We want you to actively own your work and be excited about your projects.
  • You’re a polyglot. Our platform incorporates several languages - Python, Go and Kotlin, to name a few.  We need you to work with, or be able to learn, multiple programming languages.
  • Knowledge of technical excellence. You know continuous delivery, testing, security practices, performance, and disaster recovery.
  • Cloud and container experience. Building and scaling secure services on different cloud providers is a plus. You will use Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS.
  • You keep your cool when things go wrong. You’re capable navigating through a product outage, skilled in identifying performance bottlenecks, spotting anomalous system behavior, and figuring out the root cause of incidents.
  • You know your stuff. We admire both your education, as well as your experience. We’re looking for a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (or related degree), or relevant equivalent experience.
  • You’ve been doing this for a bit. You should bring 5+ years of experience [depends on the level] working in cloud environments and with ProdSec or SecOps.
And Ideally:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other Engineering or Technical discipline or equivalent relevant experience
  • Hands-on experience in MS Azure, Google Compute Cloud and 3rd party related compliance tools such as Dome9, Turbot, DivvyCloud
  • Any recognized security and cloud specific certifications, e.g., CCSP, SSCP, CISSP, CCSK, AWS
  • Knowledge of BC & DRP programs including risk assessment, BIA, remediation, and staging exercises
  • Working proficiency with work tracking systems such as JIRA and project management solutions
  • Hands on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) including CloudFormation, CloudWatch, Lambda, IAM, KMS, VPC, ELB, EC2, CloudTrail, AWS Organizations

If you’ve reached this point in the job description and feel you’re still not sure if you should apply…Just do it! We know there are no perfect applicants. You may not have 100% of all those bullets listed above - and that’s okay. If you’re feeling like you’re not going to fit in with our teams - that’s not ok. We're One Tenable which means however you identify and whatever background you bring with you, we encourage you to submit an application if it’s a role you can be passionate about doing every day.

We’re committed to promoting Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) at Tenable - through all equal employment opportunity laws and regulations at the international, federal, state and local levels.
