Product Marketing Manager - Nessus

Columbia | Maryland | United States

Your Role:

Tenable is seeking a talented and dynamic product marketing professional to help extend the company’s leadership in the vulnerability assessment and vulnerability management sectors.  

Nessus is deployed by millions of users worldwide to identify vulnerabilities, policy-violating configurations and malware that attackers use to penetrate customer's networks.  Tenable’s differentiated business model in the cybersecurity industry combines the adoption benefits of our free version of Nessus, Nessus Home, and our paid version of Nessus, Nessus Professional. Our free version of Nessus has had approximately two million cumulative unique downloads over the past 20 years, together with our approximately 19,000 Nessus Professional customers, have created broad familiarity and affinity with our products, as well as mindshare among the overwhelming majority of security practitioners.

In this role, you will draw on your creativity and marketing expertise to bolster Tenable’s practitioner, consultant and enterprise communities. You will establish, nurture and help monetize these communities as they mature and adopt our enterprise platform over time.  You will analyze customer needs, market trends, and competitor strategies to develop market insight, influence our product roadmap, and create messaging, content and go-to-market guidance. You will also contribute to PR and analyst relations, and guide and participate in demand generation and enablement programs. Collaborating with sales, marketing, sales enablement, product management, and executive management, you will play an active role in shaping Tenable’s products, marketing campaigns, and go-to-market strategy. Your Opportunity:

  • Develop and nurture user communities via social, portal, and direct marketing relationships
  • Advise on an innovate go-to-market strategies including e-commerce/storefront and ‘freemium’ offers
  • Develop buyer personas specific to transactional direct and channel-centric business models
  • Create compelling content for sales collateral, blog posts, website, channel offers, and related activities
  • Lead market solution and feature innovation launches
  • Actively participate in analyst relations and public relations initiatives
  • Participate in webcasts and other demand generation activities
  • Guide and contribute to sales and partner enablement
  • Must have ability to travel up to 20% of time

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, ideally from a top university. Master’s degree desired
  • Open source, ‘freemium’, or volume e-commerce software experience in leading product marketing role
  • Prefer knowledge of the cybersecurity marketplace and its unique requirements
  • 3+ years of high tech product marketing or similar experience; 5+ years of total career experience
  • Your written and oral communications skills are superb, and you can explain complex concepts clearly for a variety of audiences
  • You are able to successfully build relationships and collaborate with geographically dispersed teams
  • You have the ability to blend strategic thinking with creative execution
  • You possess excellent organizational skills and strong follow-through
  • You thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments where change is the norm and the bar for quality is set high
  • Your inherent drive and self-starter attitude motivate you to achieve dramatic success
