Your Role:

Tenable is looking for a qualified Director, Research to join our team.

Your Opportunity:

  • Build and maintain high performing teams of researchers in a high growth environment
  • Produce complex software products on time and on budget
  • Manage execution without micro-managing
  • Collaborate and drive efforts from teams across multiple organizations
  • Network to position yourself to help recruit enthusiastic, innovative Research Engineers to join the team
  • Be an active member of the tech community by coordinating
  • hosting or participating in tech events meetups to grow the Tenable Research brand throughout the region
  • Collaborate closely with other research teams, program management and other parts of the Tenable Product organization
  • Mentor current Managers, future Managers, Technical Leads, and talented Research Engineers on the team
  • Keep team accountable and be accountable for the team and all its members
  • Handle day-to-day management tasks such as performance reviews, time off, HR Coordination, and growing future Managers to perform these tasks in the future
  • Harness the team to produce the highest quality deliverables with the greatest velocity
  • Attract and hire great senior engineers and managers, lead and mentor them and make them successful
  • Work with a remote team and lead them to sustainable long-term success
  • Establish or grow a professional, motivated and high performance team of technical staff & managers
  • Provide technical strategy, direction and standards and to ensure they are adhered to
  • Responsible for all HR related issues (reviews, vacation, staffing, etc.) for the engineering group
  • Defend and shape team culture; Provide effective leadership and direction to the research teams in line with culture
  • Ensure all team members are communicating effectively on technical issues and have a coordinated approach; Coach and develop staff
  • Develop and implement efficient and effective working practices designed to suit the operational and cultural needs of the business and create a world class business operation
  • Manage a team of 24 individuals including 3-4 research managers.
What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • At least 5+ years of related research management experience.
