Competitive Intelligence Manager

Columbia | Maryland | United States

Your Role: 

Tenable is seeking a talented cybersecurity professional with strong technical, analytical, and communications skills to help drive our global expansion.  In this role, you will draw on your technical knowledge, strategic perspective, and resourcefulness to arm Tenable with the insights to outmaneuver our competition and capture new market opportunities.  You will work closely with executive, sales, product marketing, and product management colleagues to help Tenable build on our global scale and massive growth.  This is a remarkable opportunity for a motivated individual to make an impact in one of the strongest security companies in the world – join us today!

Your Opportunity:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of competitors’ solutions and go-to-market strategies, including strengths and weaknesses; develop talking points and tactics to defeat them in deals
  • Monitor and analyze competitor activity, including product announcements, messaging/positioning, and partnerships; alert colleagues to competitive developments and provide immediate analysis and positioning
  • Create and maintain competitive battlecards, playbooks, feature comparison charts, and similar deliverables; deliver regular updates/training to the field teams
  • Respond with urgency and quality to deal-related requests/inquiries from sales colleagues
  • Analyze competitors’ corporate strategies and proactively make recommendations to product management, marketing, sales, and other teams as appropriate
  • Lead competitive analysis projects on key strategic and technical topics, such as win/loss analysis or competitive product deep dives; manage external research vendors as needed
  • Monitor the broader security market and stay abreast of key technology and business trends
  • Must have ability to travel up to 15% of time

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, ideally from a top university
  • Information security experience required; CISSP a plus
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management market a big plus
  • 3+ years of competitive intelligence, product marketing, product management, or sales engineering experience in enterprise technology; 6+ years of broadly relevant career experience
  • Experience with Salesforce.com a plus

 And ideally:

  • You are a seasoned security professional who is passionate about making key contributions to the business
  • You can synthesize technical material and identify key insights for various audiences
  • You possess strong analytical skills; you can connect the dots to put information in perspective at both the tactical and strategic levels
  • You are curious, resourceful, and persistent; you enjoy sleuthing for information through online research and personal relationships
  • Your written and oral communication skills are strong
  • You embrace the urgency of competitive global business and thrive in fast-paced environments where change is the norm
  • Your inherent drive and self-starter attitude motivate you to achieve dramatic success
