What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
International Women's Day is a moment for women to feel proud of the achievements of themselves, women around them and women who came before them... It’s also a time for men to reflect on the support they have provided to empower the women in their personal and professional lives... and for children to get a sense of the journey women have been on and feel hope for an equal future.
Why did you choose Tenable and the cyber industry?
I've worked in the tech industry since 1996, and followed the growth markets, initially in mobiles, then PABX, then networking, and now cyber-security. I joined Tenable because they were a clear leader in their market. I've never been able to represent a product I didn't fundamentally believe in so I have always chosen the leader in that market.
What makes you proud to be a member or supporter of Women@Tenable?
All diversity is important, and Women@Tenable is one I can personally provide a perspective on after 24+ years in tech. Women are contributing in all parts of the Tenable business and having this initiative allows us to recognise the achievements of those women in an industry that we are a much smaller percentage of the gender mix.
What’s your #1 piece of advice for women working in tech?
Even though women are a smaller percentage of the workforce in tech, always be a human in tech first, but look for moments where you see the balance needs some representation of the unique perspective, culture or balance a female opinion or behaviour can bring.
