What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
It's a chance to reflect on where women have excelled and celebrate our wins, big and small.
It is also a chance to stop and reflect on where we still need to work at getting equality in our world and what we as individuals and groups can do to affect change.
Why did you choose Tenable and the cyber industry?
I chose Tenable because of the culture I knew my manager brought to the team, as well as the belief in understanding a foundation (vulnerabilities) before you build the house. I 'fell' into cybersec via an acquisition 10 years ago and love its ever-changing face and ever-changing 'war' against the hackers. It brings excitement to your day! Women are under-represented generally in IT and that is even more acute in CyberSec. Any organisation that wants to help change that balance has my support.
What’s your #1 piece of advice for women working in tech?
Don't be intimidated, and don't be made to feel less than anyone else. The strengths women have are needed to round this out to get the best results in a company. If this rounded and inclusive view is not encouraged in any workplace you find yourself in- leave. There are plenty of amazing companies like Tenable that do encourage it.
