Why I Chose to Intern at Tenable This Summer

What first attracted me to Tenable was the unique culture. There are many companies in this world, but very few like Tenable. As a Community Management Intern, I came to Tenable to be part of something unique.

Tenable is composed of creative, and determined people. These people are attracted to Tenable because of the nature of the company. Tenable itself was established by a few creative and determined guys who saw a flashing opportunity to get into an up-and-coming field of cybersecurity. Being surrounded by people like this is the main factor that made me want to work here.

Personally, I am very entrepreneurial. I started my first business in 7th grade working on high-end sneakers, I have produced and sold thousands of t-shirts, and then led mission trips to Honduras. But all of these things were relatively small and local. I wanted to get a taste of what the corporate scene was like and how to translate my entrepreneurial spirit into the corporate world, if possible. Now, working at Tenable, I have seen that there are many opportunities to be creative here. As the Community Management Intern, I have the opportunity to help build and shape the cyber community into what I see as the community’s future. I do so by monitoring customer questions and concerns within the community and making recommendations as I see fit in order to improve the layout and the community experience overall.

I have only been at Tenable for a few weeks now, but I have learned so much already. I’ve learned how a corporation functions, how to use a CRM such as Salesforce, what a community in the business world looks like, and realized there is a spot for entrepreneurial minds here. Tenable has been, and will continue to be, an amazing place for young people to grow and achieve their goals.
