I have moved to Ireland in 2013 and since then I have worked mainly for Irish companies in the tourism, hospitality, and food and beverage industries. After going back to full-time education in a Bachelors in Marketing, I had decided that was time to go back to the career path I have left behind. Sometimes we have to step back to walk further, so an internship programme seemed to be the best way to go considering that, besides of being looking to gain experience in the UK/I market I was also going through a bit of a career change - from Economics to Marketing.
On June 2017, I started my internship as Customer Success Manager at Tenable which I would say it is the first multinational company that I have worked for in Ireland. Being an intern at Tenable has been definitely one of the best professional decisions I could have taken and here are 5 things that I have learned in my first 3 months as a Customer Sucess Manager in one of the fastest growing cybersecurity companies.
1# Being an expat it is not easy but working in a multicultural environment definitely, helps.
2# Things change really fast in a tech environment. Products get constantly updated and the ability to keep learning and get adapted to new changes is really important.
3# Speaking with customers located in different countries makes you aware of the importance of paying attention to time zones, different needs and market requirements.
4# Customer success is about building relationships and exceeding clients expectations by liaising with them to understand what their needs and challenges truly are.
5# Customer issues are constantly an opportunity to learn more about the product you work with, improve problem-solving and conflict management skills.
Happy to say that my contract got extended for another 3 months.
